New Year, New Possibilities
Well the holiday season is winding down and all of us at ChalkDust CrossFit hope you had a wonderful time with family and friends. We enjoyed meeting so many of your out-of-town guests! We hope you enjoyed visiting Powell, Ohio and all that it has to offer. Another year has passed and as we move into 2015, we hope you will join us in jump starting the New Year.
New Year's resolutions have become a secular tradition, and most Americans who make them focus on self-improvement. We love this idea of a new beginning, as the new year is always a time of refection. Many of us have made New Year's resolutions though that we never follow through. This year we would love to offer you some tips on how to make the best of your self-improvement resolutions.
Ironically New Year's resolutions date back to ancient Roman times, and as we all know, Rome wasn't built in a day. Set small, attainable goals this year-like taking down the Christmas tree in a timely manner!
Most of us have attempted to obtain some kind of vague fitness goal such as "I will loose weight," or "I will start working out." We often fall short because these goals are too general. Not following through on a goal can leave you discouraged. Failure can actually lead to an increase in unhealthy behaviors. At ChalkDust CrossFit, we suggest you use SMART goals to help you achieve your resolutions this year. SMART stands for specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-related. For example: Maybe your old resolution was to eat healthier. A smart goal would be to eat two servings of vegetables a day. Smart goals help you stay focused, motivated, and manage your time better. At ChalkDust we take care of a lot of this for you. You track your progress of your workout throughout the year. Don't forget you get bonus points this month for turning in your food journals too. Please share your goals with us and pair up with another member or two who share your goals.
It is important to reward yourself when you achieve a goal, too. Our Jump into January program has great incentives to keep you motivated, like discounted memberships.
Bottom line, remember there are no quick fixes when it comes to fitness. Using SMART goals will help make those resolutions a reality.
