Community WOD for Cancer Awareness
Each fall brings the changing of leaves, crisp sweater weather, Halloween and Thanksgiving. Tucked in between the festivities is No Shave November. The No Shave November campaign is a movement that was created to raise cancer awareness. It’s about letting our hair grow and being grateful for it, when many patients lose theirs. It is the hope that this sparks conversations, raising awareness and education for cancer prevention and support for those that are currently fighting.
You might have noticed a few of the owners at ChalkDust CrossFit looking a little rugged these days, but it’s for a good cause. At ChalkDust CrossFit, we focus on overall health and well being. Often times though, life gets busy and we forget that routine check-ups are the key to many cancer prevention. Just like women and mammograms, men often need a push to take their health seriously. So if growing a little facial hair reminds us of this, we say put the razors away.
In honor of No Shave November, we invite the community out this Saturday for a free workout and a little fun. We will have workouts at 8:30am and 10:00am. In between workouts Coach Mike Walters will be doing a five minute snatch challenge to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. ChalkDust CrossFit will donate $1 for every 205 lb snatch he completes. We encourage others to make a pledge too. Join us as we stand together for cancer research and prevention.
