Another Monday in Quarantine
Hopefully you are mentally ready to tackle another Monday in quarantine. Things are obviously different today than they were last year, last month and even last week.
Have you fallen into somewhat of a routine? It can be a chaotic one, but something that resembles a pattern? It feels almost...gasp... “normal” right?
Think back to the first Monday of your new work schedule and having kids and spouses at home 24/7. It was probably a total shake up of your routine and you thought, “how am I going to make this work?” It felt like you had a hundred things to “get done” and yet you couldn’t seem to finish anything. You were exhausted from a day of accomplishing nothing and you had to wake up and do it all over again.
BUT, here you are today. You have more than likely, adapted.
Not everything is moving smoothly and you still have unexpected challenges throughout the day but this is to be expected. Life is not predictable and we really aren’t in control of all that much.
So take a sigh of relief that you are DOING YOUR BEST, and that is enough.
Don’t pay attention to people's posts about how awesome their kids projects are or how they managed to make a 4 course meal with an old can of tuna they found in the back of the cupboard. You do you.
You probably thought we were going to be all:
“You need to make time to workout.”
“You need to jump on our Zoom classes and see your friends.”
“You need to put good use to that equipment we lent you.”
“You need to make sure you are making good choices in the kitchen. Blah Blah Blah.”
While we think all those things. This isn’t the time to add guilt, pressure and stress to an already maxed out mental space. We will leave that for another post. You know those things are important so tackle those with a clear mind.
Take a deep breath, hold for 10 seconds, and release for 12 seconds.
Repeat until your shoulders relax.
Imagine where you will be at the end of this week, next month and this time next year.
