How we plan to continue during the shut down

We have officially been closed for 3 weeks. While this is a scary and unpredictable time for everyone we want to thank you for your continued support. Over the last 5 years we have really zeroed in on our "Why" for ChalkDust. And that is You. Our why has always been to help others through fitness and we are honored and consider ourselves lucky to be able to continue that with all of you each day. While we are moved by how involved and excited you guys are about the WODs and creating new and creative pieces of equipment and "extra" workouts, we would be lying if we said that this wasn't a nerve racking time. We are hopeful for the future of ChalkDust and respect and care for each and every one of you, which is the intention of this email.

Our goal with moving this community online was to continue to offer the same quality and value of ChalkDust, but in a different format. A format that we are now required to use while shut down. That being said, we understand that people are losing jobs, and are frankly scared of the future. We want you to know that we encourage you to keep an open dialogue with us, and if you need assistance with your monthly membership to please reach out. We will do anything we can to help during this stressful time. That being said, we are also fearful of what that means for the future of ChalkDust. We are hoping that by continuing to offer you expert coaching and programming, filmed Virtual Community WODs, lending out our equipment and having a team of caring and supportive coaches that have taken on the role of an emotional support team, that you are still continuing to see the value. It is our hope that we can stick together at this time, and ensur e that there will be a gym to go back to when this is over.

Staying Connected

It is on FIRE. We are loving the emails of gratitude, the posts of encouragement, the daily throw downs, the fun and crazy challenges, and the overall just positive vibes that are flowing through each and every interaction. Use this to stay engaged with others! It is an excellent platform to take advantage of during a time when we are quarantined with the same people or even no people for an unforeseen amount of time. We love seeing how much fun you guys having doing the WODs! Keep it up!

If you are feeling stuck

Ok guys. Get ready...it's time for a little tough love 

We are not in the business of letting people fall through the cracks. We care about the individuals that we have the luxury of coaching. So please do not feel that because we are not a brick and mortar facility at the moment, that it is ok to fall back. Do not give up on the hard work you have already put in. Yes, it is going to take a little more effort to get your workout in and we understand that kids/work make it more challenging but, WE ARE CHALKDUST and we do not give up that easily. 

If you are someone that needs a daily check in. Shoot us an email back with your phone number and we got you. If you need someone to give you extra modifications due to an injury. Let us know! But DO NOT give in to the temptation of creating an excuse for why you can't jump in a Zoom class or why you can't carve out 30 minutes to take care of yourself and your health. These are lies and they are hurting you. 

Ok. Geez. That was tough, but we want you to see you MATTER.
Stop putting yourself last and make time for YOU.

Mental Health Check

Social media often shows the best parts of our lives, which means we are VERY aware that though many of you are excited and happy online, that the daily grind of this isn't always so awesome. Everyone is experiencing this quarantine in a multitude of different ways. 

We are not just your fitness coaches. We are your emotional support team. 

Keep the lines of communication open with us and let us know what you are in need of. If you are having trouble getting into a Zoom class, let us know. If you aren't being challenged enough with the workouts due to the things you have at home, tell us about it. We have endless solutions. If you are feeling lonely, depressed, uncharacteristically unmotivated, stressed or scared, PLEASE speak up.

It is important to understand that this quarantine isn't the same for everyone. 

  • Some have nothing to do

  • Some are busier than ever before

  • Some have kids and family that are overwhelming them

  • Some are lonely and/or depressed

  • Some are fine financially

  • Some are wondering how to pay rent

  • Some are trying to change wedding plans/vacations

  • Some are dealing with a death

  • Some are learning new skills/crafts

  • Some are in abusive homes 

We can't change your situation. But we can be a source of love and support if and when you need it. Thank you for continuing to choose us, support us and communicate with us. And we promise to continue to do the same.
