Our focus is our community

We are sure you are as frustrated as we are with seemingly every business receiving a re-opening date except for the fitness industry. And the irony is not lost on us either, the fact that physical fitness is being said to have powerful effects at protecting you from the virus, every single vendor in the US being out of all "workout" equipment and At Home Workout videos are being searched 200% more than before is amazing! People are taking their health seriously!

And yet. Our doors are still closed.

We are frustrated and we are angry. But that frustration and anger at its root, is towards a virus. And that virus doesn't discriminate. It took down the worlds economy, not just gyms and the fitness industry. It's effecting ALL of your lives and jobs. Not just ours. 

So our focus will not be overshadowed with placing blame on individuals, or data. Our focus has been and will remain on our community. We will get a re-opening date. It will happen, and it will be an amazing feeling. But we will also take that date into consideration for our community. We will be smart and strategic with how we re-open as to ensure that we do not have to shut down again. 

We are doing our best to continue to do what we think is right, and what we feel is right has been:

  • To continue offering our exceptional services that we always have and streaming it straight into your homes

  • Partnering with Clinical Counselors to protect your mental health

  • Partnering with the best Injury Prevention specialists to provide At Home videos on how to take care of your bodies

  • Connecting personally daily

  • Providing custom programming for your needs

  • Creating challenges to keep our community connected

  • Working with other affiliates to ensure our voice is being heard

  • Remaining respectful and happy for other business owners opening their doors safely

Basically, our focus will not shift away from this Community, because you have continued to support us through this living history lesson. For this we are humbled and grateful. 

When we receive our re-opening date:

We want to discuss how we intend to keep you safe as you re-enter into the daily workouts at ChalkDust.

Our job during this shut down has been to continue your training while you are at home. We took the stance that simply unloading the WOD on you daily with a quick description and a "have at it" attitude WASN'T enough. You come to ChalkDust for the coaching and the community. Our community is on fire and our coaching streams into your homes in the form of daily live classes with Coach Mike in addition to daily pre recorded full length WODs coached and demo-ed by our entire team. 

When we reopen our doors, all of those features will not stop until every single athlete is not only allowed to freely attend class, but also feels safe to attend class.

So what will class be like when we come back?

Glad you asked. For the sake of your time, we are not going over how we will be complying with Ohio's policies about re-opening at this time because we simply don't have all of those details. However we have a solid plan in place that is able to accommodate any and all mandated policies.

In this email we will outline how we are keeping you safe from INJURY upon returning.

Realizing the gym offers more than four walls and equipment to use.

We are fairly certain that now that the gym has been closed for a significant amount of time, you are realizing that we offer and provide much more than just being a "gym." We have created a community/culture, and one that you like being a part of. 

Coming back to physical class.

Try to think back to your first day/week. Remember how sore you were? Remember how hard it was to go down stairs and sit at work? If you can't remember that feeling, your first week back after this is about to remind you. The first 4 weeks back are going to be the hardest, but also the most vital. Just like your very first week of CrossFit, do NOT get discouraged and give up. Keep coming back and keep moving.

Being real about workload and intensity

Since you have already been through the struggle and put the work in to get where you are, you already know you can lift this and lift that. But have you been doing all of the same weights and same intensity you were doing before? If you have a decked out home gym and you can confidently say yes. Then great. 

But if you are like the rest of us and have been putting in the work with lighter kettlebells, dumbbells, no equipment or laundry detergent bottles (seriously though, learning to clean and jerk those has been fun), then we need to be realistic on what our workouts are going to look like when coming back. 

Injuries are highly likely in those that cannot mentally detach their worth from the RX button. Your strength is not all lost, we promise. But your body needs to play a little catch up right now and pushing it to fast will set you back further in the long run.

Our goal is to keep you safe and healthy. Let's restart our fitness journey and fall back in love with the hustle. Things that come easy rarely last.
